Mother and daughter duo, Cathy and Christine, are looking for a new canine addition to their family after losing their dog a year ago. Christine has experience dealing with animals that have behavioural issues and the ladies are willing to put in the effort to train a more difficult dog. They’re ready to find the perfect rescue dog and commit.
During one of Dog Tales‘ Sunday open houses, one pup in particular caught this family’s eye. Mookie is a timid little guy who takes a whole lot of familiarity and coaxing to come out of his shell. Christine thinks she’s up to the challenge, but Danielle is a little concerned they might not be the right fit. Mookie thrives around other dogs and since Christine and Cathy are planning on having a one-dog household, he might not be happiest there. The ladies are willing to see other canines though and dog handler Carley is more than willing to keep bringing out contenders until they find the perfect fit.
After some trial and error, Carley brings out Boddie — a playful puppy with some possession issues — and there’s an instant connection. Cathy and Christine are over the moon about this one and more than willing to put in the extra effort to curb his behavioural issues. There’s just one catch — Boddie needs to pass the dad test.
Christine and Cathy are sure dad will like him, but as they learned from Mookie, a human liking a dog doesn’t necessarily mean the dog will like you back. Dad just has to meet Boddie for himself and see if they get along.
