Dog Tales Rescue is a truly unique animal sanctuary that offers sick, neglected and elderly animals a special place to rest and recover. Unfortunately, not every shelter has the resources to provide all the dogs that come through their doors with the specialized support that they need while they wait to find their forever homes. That is the sad reality for the Pet Adoption and Protection Center in Miami-Dade County, so Dog Tales co-founders Danielle and Rob travel there regularly to do what they can to help save as many dogs as possible.
On this particular visit, one pair of pooches catches Rob’s attention right away: a bonded pair of American Bulldog sisters, Krysti and Krystal. It’s hard enough to find a family that can take two dogs at once, but these two pose an extra challenge: Krystal suffers from a severe autoimmune disease that causes bloody sores on her skin.
There’s good news, though: Krystal’s condition is highly treatable if she can find a stable environment to boost her immune system. That’s all Rob needs to hear to add the two sisters the shortlist of dogs headed home with them to Dog Tales.
“Krysti and Krystal will be my new project,” says Rob. “I’ll sit with them daily and spend time with them as much as I can. And the second big step will be finding them the amazing home they deserve.”
