The last time Dog Tales Rescue‘s social media director, Clare, attempted a photo shoot to help draw attention to dogs who were struggling to get adopted, it didn’t exactly go as planned. But this time around, she’s recruited an assistant who’s guaranteed to make sure this one makes a difference one way or another: Kelly.
A superhero in her own right, Kelly suffers from cystic fibrosis and made a wish through the Children’s Wish Foundation to spend a week helping to care for the rescue animals at Dog Tales. Inspired by her story, the staff were determined that her visit would be one she’d never forget, and this photo shoot was bound to be memorable.
“I’m going with a superhero theme,” Clare explains. “We’re choosing dogs who’ve overcome obstacles in their life, whether it’s medically or emotionally.” That’s right: Dogs in superhero costumes.
On set, Kelly couldn’t be more excited: “This is, like, the best job ever!” But can you blame her? These adorable fur babies decked out in capes and all are almost too much to handle. Take superdog Trigger: He’s only three years old but has a degenerative retinal disease, which is causing him to go blind, but that hasn’t stopped him from doing all the things he loves.
“He’s the perfect dog,” says Kelly. “He’s just blind. But he literally does not act like he is: He runs around, sniffs everything… He’s really cute. I hope he gets adopted!”
We do, too, Kelly. We do, too.
