With its posh doggy digs and 50-acres of lush farmland, Dog Tales Rescue is certainly no ordinary animal sanctuary. So, it is any wonder that it’s also home to the most epic dog festival ever?
The annual Dog Tales Festival is a massive celebration of rescue animals. The two-day family- and pet-friendly event attracts nearly 10,000 visitors and features live music, shopping, delicious food, a carousel–even a splash pads for dogs–not to mention a VIP area for people who’ve previously adopted pets from Dog Tales. And did we mention there’s a theme? Well, there’s a theme. And this year, it’s “The Secret Garden.”
In fact, Dog Tale Rescue’s co-founder Danielle is so committed to the theme that she’s flown in the man who designed her wedding, event imagineer Tony Marklew, and his team to bring this magical garden to life, and we can see why: From the large, whimsical photo ops to the harp player to the flowers upon flowers upon flowers, Marklew clearly isn’t holding anything back.
But as impressive and spectacular as the whole affair is, it’s so much more than just an epic party, it’s a homecoming. And that’s why it’s so special to Danielle.
“The festival is kind of like a family reunion, where all of them get together. It really is a special moment to see,” she says. “I feel like it’s my birthday, because all of my [dog] kids come visit me that day.”
Dog Tales Rescue airs Thursdays at 8 ET on Gusto.
