Perfectly basic Thanksgiving stuffing

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf whole wheat bread
  • 1 loaf white bread
  • 3 tablespoons (45 ml) butter
  • 2 medium onions, diced
  • 2 cups of diced celery
  • 2 teaspoons (10ml) sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons (10ml) black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) of chopped fresh thyme
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) of chopped fresh sage
  • Pinch of cayenne
  • 2 cups (480 ml) vegetable or chicken stock

Directions

  1. Leave bread out to dry overnight.
  2. Cube bread and set aside.
  3. In a frying pan, heat butter over medium-high heat.
  4. Once butter is warmed, add onion and celery. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until onions are translucent.
  5. Add fresh chopped herbs. Cook for 1 minute.
  6. Turn veggie and herb mixture into bread bowl. Add a pinch of cayenne and toss together.
  7. Stir in stock and mix until stuffing has a moist consistency.
  8. Stuff the turkey with the stuffing, and proceed to cook the turkey.
  9. Note: This can be used in a turkey, a chicken or as a casserole on the side of dinner.
