In Europe, they love their mulled wines — most Christmas markets will have a vendor selling just that. It is one of the things that instantly gets me into the holiday spirit. Mulled wine is typically made with red wine, but I’ve decided to switch it up a bit and try it with white wine instead. It works really well.
- 1 bottle dry white wine
- 4 tbsp honey
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 cloves
- 2 orange peels (remove all the white pith from the peel)
- 5 peppercorns
- 1 star anise
- In a heavy bottomed large pot over medium-high heat, combine all of the ingredients. Bring the wine to a simmer and then turn the heat down to low and leave for 25 minutes.
- Remove from the heat and strain into a heat-resistant pitcher or glasses. Enjoy while warm.
